It has been several weeks since we published a proper developer blog, and even longer since we posted a roadmap. Today I would like to share our plans for the near future of Revn’s development.
Revn is designed around three core gameplay pillars: Modular Character Loadouts, Fortress Construction, and Minion Management. By working with their team to balance each of these pillars, players will fight towards victory in player versus player matches. If you are an alpha tester, you may have noticed that only two of these three pillars are represented in the current build of the game.
With that in mind, our primary focus has recently shifted to implementing AI characters, and we are hoping to be able to share more of our progress soon.
We are also working on an overhaul of character animations. We are utilizing a combination of copyright-free animation assets and custom motion capture work to bring an improved level of polish to the animations of Revn’s characters. This is a fairly large undertaking for the animation team (myself, John, and Kyle), but the initial results are looking nice.
In tandem with these larger objectives, we are constantly working to improve balance for weapons and armor. Feedback from alpha testers is the driving force behind balance changes, and we couldn’t do it without you.
Closed alpha testers for Revn are under a Non Disclosure Agreement (NDA), and we would like to give you an update on when we will be changing the limitations on sharing information about Revn. We’re thrilled that some of you are looking forward to streaming or publishing videos about Revn, and we appreciate your understanding. We are working to create an official reveal trailer for Revn, and this is the primary prerequisite for changing the NDA. After we have more of our own official publicity materials, we would love to work with content creators who want to make content about Revn.
